Samhain Special Sabbatical Week

October 28-November 3, 2024

with guest healer, Joy Evans plus breakfast baskets and special dinners prepared by Chef Peter

~ TRANSITIONS ~  ANCESTORS ~ THE UNKNOWN ~ THE VOID ~

Join us in magical Mount Shasta, the powerful root chakra of the earth, during Samhain for a deeply restorative sabbatical week to slow down, reset and ground your body, mind and spirit with our guest healer, Joy Evans.

Samhain is a Celtic cross-quarter celebration that marks the end of the harvest season and beginning of the dark half of the year.

The descent into longer nights is acknowledged in many cultural traditions, honoring the cycle of death and rebirth, and often described as a time of “thinness between worlds.”

Samhain’s seasonal wisdom invites you to reflect on your relationship with your ancestors, as well as the unknown or the void, and night’s darkness. Three contemplations as you pause to connect with this powerful time of the year:

  • Listen. What messages will be whispered to your heart about your journey, life’s transitions, and death/rebirth?

  • Tune into your inner wisdom. What ancestral healing can you access now?

  • Befriend darkness. What does your heart/mind/body desire during the longest nights?

This powerful (and sometimes intense energy) during the turning point of the season offers beautiful reflections on life’s transitions.  You may be facing the transition of a loved one or you may be following your heart down a path externally or internally that feels like stepping into the unknown. The darkness of the void can feel overwhelming, yet, life comes from the darkness of the womb and the earth. What messages about transitions, death/rebirth, and your inner journey will be whispered to your heart when you slow down?

In The Earth’s Cycle of Celebration, Glennie Kindred reminds us that Samhain is a “time to connect to our root energy, to reflect, to journey into our unconscious and the spirit realms. Now we must make time to rest.”

Joy will be offering a magical Samhain night sound walk and two community sound healing sessions to help us befriend darkness, the unknown, and connect with ancestral healing.

Join our Samhain Sabbatical week at Hestia to:

  • Recognize the rhythm of the seasons as a source of healing for your mind, body, and spirit;

  • Connect to the deeply rooted energy of Mount Shasta to stay grounded during the energetic transition from Autumn’s energy of water into Winter’s energy of earth;

  • Release ancestral trauma, tend to your grief, and connect with ancestral healing;

  • Open your heart to messages about your life transitions from the earth, water, fire, and air;

  • Deepen your practice of rest as you prepare for the dark half of the year.

WED-THUR >>  HARNESS THE POTENT ENERGY OF SAMHAIN

  • On Wednesday night befriend the darkness with a guided 2-hour night sound walk with Celtic contemplation and forest bathing, accompanied by the celestial sounds of alchemy crystal singing bowls.

  • We will follow the earth as our guide to tune into the slowing down energy of the earth. Allow the sounds of the night and the alchemy crystal singing bowls to carry you into a deep practice of slow meditative walking supported by Mama Shasta. Each person, at their own pace, will “walk-the-rounds” of three of Hestia’s energetic circles. They offer many symbolic opportunities: the land’s chakra points for contemplating your inward journey, transition, and the void; connecting with maiden, mother, and crone energy; and a beautiful stone labyrinth, a dancing oak tree, and fire scorched earth. Whatever meaning you make of the three circles, you’re invited to approach each with deep listening, as you’re gently guided by the sounds of singing bowls. The vibration/energy of crystal singing bowls can be impactful both physically on the mind/body and energetically on the subtle energy bodies. Gentle attention will be given to the heart chakra of each person walking to support your connection to the energy of the earth and the stars.

  • The walk will be followed by an optional fire ceremony to release what no longer serves you and make space for the shifts you want to catalyze in your life when you return home by letting go of what no longer serves you.

  • On Thursday, you are invited to be silent for the day to allow for deep integration.

FRI-SAT >> RELEASING RITUAL

  • On Friday and  Saturday sink deeper into restorative rest.  Enjoy a 75-minute community sound healing session each morning with Joy Evans starting at 11:11 am to tune into the realms of spirit.  Sound healing with Joy includes guided breathwork, body/nature awareness, and powerful resonance for releasing ancestral trauma and connecting with ancestral healing.

  • Practice embodying and living your intentions while you’re here by consciously choosing how you want to spend your time and energy

  • Deepen your connection to the land by meditating on Hestia’s energy spots or explore the areas around Mount Shasta listed on our welcome guide

  • Book add-on with our guest healer, Joy Evans, for a one-on-one sound/forest therapy session  or book a guided experience with our recommended Shasta tour operators

 SUN >> GIVE GRATITUDE & PREPARE TO TRANSITION

  • Enjoy a closing gratitude circle with the group to integrate all the blessings you received!

  • Visit the spots that you felt a special connection to on the land and give gratitude before you leave!

  • Create a mantra/visual reminder to facilitate a smooth transition back
