Join natural chef Melissa S. in learning a new life skill! During this session we will learn to transform a simple cabbage into a flavorful, health supportive and longer lasting kraut using the power of salt, time, and mindful intention! Sauerkraut is the flavor booster you didn't know you were missing - you'll soon be throwing it on everything - from sandwiches, to grain bowls, eggs, stir fries, tacos and more!

What you will need:

  • Large glass jar with lid (ideally a wide mouth quart)

  • 1 head of cabbage (organic if possible ~1.5lbs)

  • Sea Salt (or other non iodized salt)

  • Weight (ex: fermentation weight or small 1/2 pint or jam jar)

  • Sharp knife and cutting board

  • Largest bowl you have

  • Optional: 

    • other veggie, such as carrot, green onion, fennel or radish 

    • flavoring add-ins, such as dill, garlic, ginger, or caraway

    • kitchen scale

    • pickle pipe or other fermentation lid
