Let’s cook dinner together…virtually!
Cooking together is a core element of human culture and is as ancient as civilization itself! It connects family, friends and communities deeply as love is poured into the ingredients. What better way to show someone love than to provide them with life sustaining and soul warming nourishment? Many of us may not live in community or be able to cook physically together at this time, but we can still cook together virtually!
This month we’re trying out a new offering where we will celebrate the bounty of summer by preparing together a simple and nourishing dinner.
We’ll be cooking….Summer Garden Pasta with Chickpeas! This dish highlights summer produce and is lightly seasoned to allow the vegetables to sing! If you have access, I recommend getting fresh local vegetables for the best flavor, especially for the tomatoes!
Serves 2-3, vegan and gluten free friendly
Ingredients (feel free to substitute vegetables if preferred)
6 oz pasta of choice (recommend fusilli or other short pasta like penne or elbow)
can of chickpeas
small onion
head of garlic
large handful of green beans
large zucchini
2-3 large heirloom tomatoes or 1 basket cherry tomatoes
lemon
olive oil + salt + vinegar (recommended: red wine or white wine vinegar)
nutritional yeast (highly recommend ~ you can also use on veggies, popcorn, potatoes, toast, pasta, etc for a cheesy flavor) or parmesan cheese
optional: fresh basil, white wine, chili flakes
Tools: pasta pot, large saute pan with lid, spatula, strainer, bowls for prepping ingredients, sharp knife and cutting board, tasting spoons
Evening will include a mixture of cooking instruction interspersed with plenty of time to connect with each other, and we'll finish by sitting down together to a well deserved meal!
Class limited to 12 people to best allow for group conversation.
So grab a glass of your favorite white wine or beverage of choice and join us for a fun summer evening of cooking and connection!
